Just the beginning of my tale.
Story of Zeke
It was a sunny morning in the village of Azaroth. All was peaceful and the sound of children playing in the distance could be heard. But as those children played, one watched them. His name was Zeke, and he was only 16, he was an orphan, he only had a brother and sister, but they were all separated in the orphanage. But to his thought, he was an only child and that his fake parents were truly his real parents to his knowledge, but sadly, that wasn’t true… As the day went on, clouds came as if they were summoned by an unknown force, and the once sunny day, turned into one with lighting that seemed to dance upon the ground. The children ran for cover, but was suddenly stopped by a deafening clap of thunder, and a flash of lighting, and when the parents went out their to grab their frighten children, they were stopped as well. A trader that was among them stated, “What is that? It looks like a…” but his words were cut off as an arrow pierced his skull and he fell to the ground. And as another clap of thunder sounded, another man fell to the ground, just like the trader, him too, with an arrow in his head. Soon people had realized what was happening, and grabbed their children and fled, as they ran towards their homes, the town guard came out to repel the unseen attackers. But when they ran to the center of the town, arrows seemed to fall from the sky just like the rain. The sound of rain, thunder, and screams could only be heard on that day, one guard managed to catch a glimpse of one of the attackers, it was a creature the size of a human, but wearing an armor as if it was created in the depths of hell itself. But that guard’s glimpse of the being only brought his inevitable death even closer, as an arrow pierced his chest plate. He toppled onto the ground in pain, yelling as he tried to pull the arrow out, but it seemed that the arrow was stuck in him, and when he did pull it out, it left a fist sized hole in him, before he died, he noticed that the arrow seemed to open up as it pierced the target. As the guard passed on, others noticed what he had pulled out of him, and they frantically began to retreat, even though they were falling one by one. Up on a hill where Zeke’s house was, Zeke went outside and noticed the screams, “What the?” he said as he looked down into the town. He ran back into the house to tell his foster parents what he heard, they didn’t believe him. He tried to persuade them to run, but they didn’t, after his failed attempts he finally ran out of the house and into the woods that lay just west of the city. As he ran the sounds of people screaming soon faded away, and as he slowed to stop and rest, he tripped over a root and hit his head on a tree that was right in front of him. Later, he awoke with a searing headache, as he got up he cursed, “Damn.” And it took him a minute to realize where he was and what had happened, he then ran back to the town, he first stopped at his house, only to find his foster parents dead. “No… I told you to run… But…” he said as he fell to the ground with tears starting to form in his eyes. After the few minutes of mourning he heard a noise come from outside his house, he looked at the door and saw a shadow slowly approaching. He panicked and froze right where he was, and as the shadow approached the door, Zeke heard panting, and he screamed as he saw a half dead guard fall through the doorway, half his face completely burned away. The guard said only a few words, “Everyone is dead, everyone…” as the color in his eyes faded away from the blue they once had. Zeke searched his dead foster father for the key to the basement, and when he found it he ran to the basement door and opened it. He went into the basement for the very first time, and noticed that this was a training room, and there were weapons scattered all over the place. Zeke noticed one blade that was hanging over a shield with a dragon emblem, he walked towards the sword and took it out of its protective harness on the wall. He turned around and left the basement, went to his room and grabbed a bag and stuffed whatever he could find in there. Then he went to town, but when he arrived, he was horrified at what he saw, dead bodies littered the street. As he walked down where the children were playing he looked around and saw bodies with burn markings on them, arrows through them, and sword marks. As he walked he went to the smiths weapon shop, knowing that he was surely dead, he entered and confirmed that he was correct as the smith lay on the floor with an arrow going through his eye, Zeke walked towards what was the smith’s prized possession, an Elven bow and a set of Elven arrows, Zeke took it and said, “I will use this with great honor, I’m sorry for stealing it… I will make whoever did this pay dearly.” As he left the smith’s shop he took the gold as well, then he left the once peaceful town of Azaroth.
